Basically I came here to earn some money and to have some good life ( cleaning my bathroom myself -- lol )
The way things are going here in US with Jobs / Economy overall thinking if it is worth to live here and worth to get a US Passport or to keep renewing GC.
I know it all depends on each indivisual perspective and views.. but taught of looking other views on this.

They will print money....and 'hose" the "dollar" savings of Japan, China etc....
The question should be when is China going to figure out an alternative business model other than depressing currency and exporting to US.
Till that time US can print as much as they want and stick it to the a**es of people who buy us treasuries.

I was initially issued pp for 5 years in India. Last year in '08 when it was expiring, i sent application for renewal of passport (NY Consulate) based on my EAD. However, instead of renewing it for another 5 years they renewed it for 1 year only. When I called the office, they said that they receive tons of pp's lon EAD which can be renewed for a year only.
Did anybody face this same problem? Can I apply for new passport based on I-485 receipt and would they issue passport for another 5 or 10 years?

In this economy you need to generate good revenue - this is a good revenue for Indian missions'.
BTW, As far as I heard from Indian Consular Officer in Chicago - Indian Mission has a right to issue a 1 year passport, if (1) Your previous passport had < 10 yr validity or (2) you are on a temporary visa (like visiting or tourist) trying to renew it in overseas or (3) you have not stayed outside India continuously for 3 years.

So step children get the same benefits as dependants. Good to know. I guess if it wasnt so, someone would have raised some issue about it by now. Atleast there would have been a bill in congress.

However, the same is not true with the employment-based immigration reform issues. The lobbying and organizing and support of these issues rely heavily on the employers, businesses, and academic institutions such as competeamerica. Without doubt, the employers should be the most effective and powerful groups to pressure the Congress, President, and other players in the political process.
However, it is time that the immigrants themselves also participate in a similar effort to share information, issues, and supporting activities. Obviously, the first move is to organize and build a network throuhout the nation and the world, and along with the networking, other support activities must be conducted and expanded. There are not too many immigrant groups that are focused on the employment-based immigration reform issues. Currently, a website of www.immigrationvoice.org is launching this campaign and attempting to organize and network in the employment-based immigrant communities. Hi ,
I was working for company A and got my labor and I-140 approved and then i changed to company B. My priority date is jan 2005. Is there any way that i can continue my green card process with company A. WOuld be of great help if somone can tell me if there is any way to do it.

While driving back , at POE the process is simple. Always show your AP before passport and they will let you in. Never show the passport before the AP.

Iam on L2 and working on my EAD which is expiring on april 29 th 2011.
I have applied for H1 in the 2010 quota but due to my employers mistake i got a rejection on that.
we are trying to reappeal to USCIS but iam not sure if its going to work.
Suppose i have a project and apply again for 2011 quota , can i still continue working even if my EAD expires.
They say that we actually move to H1 on October , so if i apply before end of April through premium processing and get an approval notice before October can i continue working or start work right away or do i have to wait till October.
Is there a possibility to start working immediately as soon as my H1 gets approved or do we have to wait until October in any case.

I asked my company attoreny about this.. he said that immigration petition is I-140 and as I-140 is not filed for your wife (I-485 is already filed for my wife) so I should say No there for my wife's form.
You are right , I just got the same information from my employer and the attorney that I-140 is the visa petition and not the I-485.So for H4 dependents the answer should be "NO"

Is more than 6 yrs of IT experience from a non-computers engg background good for applying for EB2 position? Can you comment from your experience.
I have similar situation. I am getting an already approved labor for gc processing. it needs 5yrs progressive exp and bachelor degree in engg. Now I do have nearly 5 years at the time of application and now (9 years). have same degree work for same company as the company applied and also match in experience almost 100%. Is there any risk in I140 approval.

Ah, the magical E-Verify solution. If we just required it for everything from getting a job to applying for any kind of government benefit and now qualifying for a mortgage, all would be right with America. I will be getting married to a H1 holder in India and because of the time involved in obtaining a marriage certificate, am planning to leave shortly after the wedding with my existing B2/tourist visa. What are my options of applying for a H4 once I do that - would I have to come back to India to apply for that, or can it be done from Canada/Mexico - are there any risks pertaining to intent of travel associated with such an action. Thanking you in advance for valuable help in this matter!

I moved to a new company and yet to receive my I-797 approved from INS. My old company visa is valid till May 2010. If they have not revoked it can i still travel out of country and come back?

My employer had given me an approved labour and filed for my I140 in May for which I have received the receipt notice. I subscribed myself for email alerts in USCIS website with my I140 receipt notice number. Few days before I received an email from USCIS that a request for withdrawal of my I140 was accepted and I will have to file a new application if I want to apply again. I questioned my employer regarding the same but they said they didnt withdraw my I140 application and that it must be a screw up from USCIS side.

I have been approached by a different employer who is ready to file my GC.

As far as I know, I think you need an approved I-140 before you can use AC21.

I am also renewing the EADs but the concern is more on what if the renewals are not approved by 9/2010. Looks like your answer is they are still legal (AOS)
